Parenting Classes

Parenting Wisely
Parenting Wisely is an evidence and research-based program that teaches skills to improve family relationships. The class is offered in both a group setting and an individual self-paced option, and is formatted as a video and workbook that can be completed in approximately seven sessions. Focusing on specific parenting challenges, the program offers guidance on improved parental communication skills, which help parents remain focused on creating successful outcomes that are in the best interest of their children. The program is offered in two different versions – one for parents of young children and one for parents of teenagers. There is a fee associated with this program, please contact us to learn more.

Nurturing Parenting
Nurturing Parenting is a family-centered, trauma-informed initiative designed to build nurturing parenting skills as an alternative to abusive and neglectful parenting and child rearing practices. The program not only teaches parenting skills, but focuses on educating parents of their own self-worth and targets the dangers of mixing drugs and alcohol with parenting. This course is offered in a group setting, and can be completed in 16 weeks. We currently offer an evening group at the Clara Allen Family Center on Monday’s at 6 p.m. and a virtual class on Thursday’s at 2 p.m.

Triple P
Triple P Positive Parenting Program is designed to work either in a group setting or one-on-one. The class focuses on one ‘problem’ at a time and uses Tip Sheets to provide guidance to caregivers as difficult situations arise. This program is often described as a tool box for parents.

” The parenting group is amazing! It taught me so much and it’s kind of like having your own personal therapist. I loved every minute of it!

” The parenting group wasn’t what I expected. I really enjoyed myself while I was in the program. I learned a lot about myself and how dealing with my past was important for my kids.”
